Phase 1: Purchasing
When purchasing a remote tuning kit, you'll select from several options:
1. ECU License
-
What is an ECU License?
-
Your ECU (Engine Control Unit) manages your engine. To tune your vehicle using ECUTEK software, your ECU needs a digital license.
-
-
Do I need a license?
-
If your car has never been tuned with ECUTEK: YES.
-
If your car is already ECUTEK tuned: NO.
-
-
Important Notes:
-
Licenses are a one-time purchase, permanently linked to your ECU.
-
Previously used DESKEY licenses cannot be transferred.
-
2. Bluetooth Connect Kit
-
What is this?
-
A small module (green or black) that plugs into your vehicle’s OBD2 port.
-
Required for remotely uploading tunes and sending datalogs via the ECUTEK CONNECT app.
-
-
Do I need one?
-
YES, if you do not already own one.
-
NO, if you already own one (can be shared among multiple vehicles).
-
-
Warranty Note:
-
Used connect kits not purchased from MIGTUNED won't be covered under warranty.
-
3. Tune Add-Ons (Optional)
-
Launch Control: Custom feature for enhanced starts.
-
Flex Fuel Option: Requires installed Flex Fuel kit and aftermarket low-pressure fuel pump.
-
Aftermarket Parts: Only select if installed (injectors, turbochargers, etc.).

Phase 2: Setup (Important Timing Information)
Once you receive your kit, immediate setup is required:
-
Base Map Setup: Must be completed within 30 days of delivery.
-
Tuning Period: Must begin within 30 days of Base Map setup and completed within 30 days of the first datalog.
-
Rescheduling Fee: A Tune Update will be required for any mod changes that require large adjustments during the tuning process or if the tuning timeline is surpassed - tuner has right to extend time limits due to different situations, because you went on an extended vacation is NOT a credible excuse.

Thank you for choosing MIGTUNED. Let’s get started!
Phase 3: Tuning
After the setup:
ECU Programming Requirements
-
Battery Voltage: Must remain above 12 volts; a battery charger (not a jump pack) is required.
-
Accessories: Turn off ALL accessories and aftermarket equipment during ECU programming.
-
Hazards On: Use hazard lights during initial ECU flash to prevent vehicle shutdown.
ECU Flashing Steps
-
Engage the e-brake fully.
-
Enter ACCESSORY POWER mode (press start button twice, foot off brake).
-
Open ECUTEK app, navigate to "Program ECU," and select "BASEMAP."
-
Follow app prompts. Successful programming is indicated by a smiley face and confirmation message.
Troubleshooting Failed Flashes
-
If ECU programming fails:
-
Attach battery charger.
-
Flash "STOCK" file first to recover.
-
Retry flashing "BASEMAP."
-
Note: Random ECU codes ("ghost" codes) are normal during tuning and can be cleared after completion.
